This post contains spoilers for episode 6 of “Reacher” season 3.
“Reacher” may be about the only hero wandering around the United States, but Alan Richson’s vigilante of justice is not entirely alone. Season 1 of the extremely popular Prime Video series featured Mariasten’s Francis Neighborhood, the best friend of the prestigious hero.
The capable former soldier joined the former boss towards the end of the first season and quickly became a fan favorite. Later in Season 2, “Reacher” introduced the entire Army Badazes team, with Reacher’s former 110th Special Investigation Unit reuniting with the leader to track down the villains, except for the former co-Cog. Nee Glee was, of course, part of its crew. In fact, it was right that the book Bad Luck and Trouble, which was the basis for Season 2, featured Neagley as the main character, and thus played a central role in the second season. The decision seems to have worked well with fans, as in October 2024 Neagley announced that she would acquire her own spinoff series (Via deadline).
However, before you see the bad ventures of Reacher himself, a friend of Reacher, a fellow, there’s Season 3 “Reacher.” Sten’s character, who worked as a private investigator in Chicago, is drawn into Reacher’s latest fiasco after a former military police officer asks him to run a background check for Xavier Quinn (Brian Tee), the season’s main villain. Unfortunately for Neagley, this puts her in Quinn’s field of vision. But fortunately, it means that the 110th alum can be seen dealing with her own genocide in a solo action sequence that portends a very good honour for her upcoming spinoff series.
Reacher Episode 6 has one of Nee Glee’s best action sequences
The Francis Neagley spin-off is entitled “Neagley” and “Neagley” and is titled “Cross” with another surname from “Reacher” and production company Skydance “Cross.” That means the new show is already in good hands, especially with author Lee Child being featured again as executive producer. But it’s even more proof that “Neagley” will be as good as “Reacher” in case it’s not enough to convince you. The latest Season 3 episode shows a fiercely engaging action sequence that flaunts some of Neagley’s charisma.
In episode 6, Xavier Quinn sends two goons to an office building in Chicago to retrieve private investigators snoring Quinn’s illegal deals. Unfortunately for these henchmen, Naegley is a private investigator and her skills learned during her time on the 110th day are as sharp as ever. After finding the henchman from the kitchen, Neagley distracts with the fridge and printer, all of which, in order to cross the office and return to the desk. There, she retrieves the pistol and immediately drops the attacker down. The sequence is well staged in itself, with a close-up shot that confirms we know that Nee Glee left her firearm on her desk. Her problem solving during flight also speaks a lot about her wit and quick thinking skills, reflecting the skills of her former leader. However, the scene that follows really sells the Sten character as the lead in the series.
Reacher Episode 6 proves that Nee Glee is the main character
After catching one of his henchmen with a bullet in their stomach, Francis Neaglee finds he is bleeding in the kitchen and tries to turn himself into a bowl of grain while he asks him to call an ambulance. She then uses his miserable circumstances to extract the necessary information, casually responding to the attacker’s request during a grain bite, calling it an ambulance, “Okay, you’re an ambulance.”
It may not be the most original line, but the entire scene establishes that Nee Glee is as ruthless as Reacher when he needs him, attacked in his own office, and the slow death of the man in front of him gives us a sense of how intense this character is. If this was a well-executed shootout, it would have been enough to convince the deniers that Nee Glee was a real deal. But with this extra exchange, “Neagley” has already captivated the show just as much as “Reacher,” the best action series on television, and certainly knows that she could surpass her former leader in that respect.
The official logline for the series promises a story very similar to “Reacher” season 2. Naegley knows that “her past beloved friend was killed in a suspicious accident.” This quest for vengeance can be imagined as she features several scenes that reveal her cold-blooded side, including some casual meal, including the appearance of her “reacher” episode 6. Frankly, I can’t wait.
Nee Glee may not need Reacher’s help in the spinoff
There is another aspect to Francis Naegley’s big action scene in “Reacher” episode 6. It may seem trivial to point out, but the Chicago office block setting was oddly immersive. Perhaps it’s worth referring to “Reacher” Season 1. As a result, crews were forced to build an entire city from scratch in corn fields due to the global pandemic. As a result, the show was clearly breaking Prime Video streaming records destroying “Reacher” season 1, but it’s no doubt that it felt small at times. Of course, it all changed in Season 2 and its New York City setting, but for me at least, “Reacher” has always retained the obvious sweet feeling from its first season. Whatever I did to shoot a shootout in Naegley’s office, I never felt it was on the stage of sound, but this is a small point, but the lights of Chicago city actually glowing and passing through the windows enhanced a sense of excitement with the possibility of seeing Sten’s private investigators tearing through the windy city.
The Neagley spin-off will begin filming in February 2025, with Alan Richson set to appear as a guest star. But this latest episode of “Reacher” may be anything, but he may not need it. Richson himself is definitely a big part of why “Reacher” has become such a popular series for Amazon’s streaming service. Compared to former Jack Reacher actor Tom Cruise, Richson is a much better and more prominent version of the character, with fans clearly turning it over to his interpretation (and of course, his huge muscles).
With that in mind, the majority of “Neeglee” success will undoubtedly depend on Mariasten’s lead role performance. Thankfully, everything that’s been stained so far with “Reacher” suggests she has no issues in that respect, and her latest look proves beyond the shadow of doubt that her show is just as attractive as the Massaship series, even without Richson appearing.
