Manchester Thunder vice captain Josie Huckle said Sky Sports She looks at Netball Super League Gold with her eyes, looking to “cause some confusion.”
Huckle, who plays as goalkeeper, has entered the third season, following the end of the hornet, but has not won a Super League title with the club despite both she and Thunder already owning four titles.
In her first season at Manchester in 2023, the club came third in the standings, losing to Loughborough Lightning in the semi-finals 65-59, but last season’s Thunder was defeated by the Lightning in the final.
“I won the bronze in my first year and my second year. It’s my third year there. I hope this year I’ll go for money,” says Huckle.
“So you’re going to be doing good things as a coaching team, like Karen Graig (director of netball and head coach), Gabriel Tawl (assistant coach), and Laura Malcolm (assistant coach), and others.
“In fact, I don’t think you can win another one-on-one ball, because you have some big, big shooter games. So it’s like actually leaving your body and creating some chaos – I have some very long limbs out there so you can cause chaos.”
The 33-year-old added that she is not far from sports, labeling the improvement to the Netball Super League standard as “massive.”
“It’s definitely not [finished yet]. I hope to spend several more years under my belt. I was lucky enough to join some pretty decent teams and win four big titles,” she added.
“[Netball Super League has improved] I think we came in a lot, especially due to the impact of imports. A truly amazing player came across the pond and joined us.
“The game is definitely getting more intense and I still absolutely love it.
“It’s definitely something I’m working on to be able to come out and go hunting and cause some confusion, and hopefully, I’ll keep bringing it into the season.”
The Thunder will be second in the rankings and will face London’s Pulse on Friday.
It may be early in the season, but Huckle says the team is aiming for a statement victory.
“Absolutely, we are really looking forward to this big challenge,” she said.
“I think we saw that Super Cup [London Pulse won]but that could be whose game.
“They have England defensive forces, so we want to rip them, see what we can and produce good netballs.”
