The Delta Line flight reversed the course departing from Boston after a “smoke smell” was detected in the cabin on Sunday.
Flight 1398, which departed Logan International Airport at 8:55am on Sunday morning, was to land at noon in New Orleans before turning the course back.
The Airbus A220 aircraft had 87 customers as well as three flight attendants and two pilots. I returned to Beantown around 9:35am.
A Delta spokesperson told Fox News that the aircraft declared a state of emergency to get priority landings from air traffic control, and emergency response personnel met the plane on the runway. The aircraft arrived safely at its gate, and all passengers continued their journey.

“The Delta Flight 1398 returned to Boston shortly after takeoff after the smell of smoke was detected in the cabin,” the statement read. “Our flight crew followed established procedures and safely returned to Boston. We sincerely apologise to our customers for the delay in our trip.”
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also issued a statement regarding the incident.
“Delta Line Flight 1398 returned safely to Boston Logan International Airport around 9:35am on Sunday, March 2nd, after crews reported smoke on the flight deck and cabin,” the agency said. “The Airbus 220 has made its way to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The FAA will investigate. Please contact the airline for more information.”

The incident occurred less than two weeks after Delta Connected Flight 4819 crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson Airport on February 17th.
