Pittsburgh Steelers rookie center Zach Frazier returned to action in Week 10 against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, giving the second-round pick some rust despite missing several weeks with an ankle injury. He didn’t show any signs of it, which earned him praise from head coach Mike. Tomlin Tuesday.
After missing games against the New York Jets in Week 7 and the New York Giants in Week 8, Frazier returned for the Week 10 game against the Commanders on the road, using the bye week to get healthy and return to the field. Ta.
“It’s good to have Zach Frazier back. I didn’t expect him to show any rust, especially for a guy who hasn’t played that much experience,” Tomlin said in his weekly press conference. According to a video via the Steelers YouTube page. “So, to give you some specific examples, I was happy with how he came back on the moving train.”
Riding a moving train can be difficult, even for experienced veterans. It’s difficult to get back into shape right away after the holidays, but Frazier was no less exhausted by the commander’s battle.
In the win over Washington, Frazier played all 78 offensive snaps. Scored an overall score of 55.2 on Pro Football Focus.including 57.0 as a run blocker and 69.1 as a pass protection. For the third straight game, Frazier hasn’t allowed any pressure and continues to play a very important role in the middle of the Black and Gold’s offensive line.
With Frazier out of the lineup against the Jets and Giants, Ryan McCollum stepped up and played well, earning praise from teammates and coaches along the way. He was very helpful, but it was good to see Frazier on the field in Washington on Sunday.
The Steelers’ offense was slow to start and had some issues running the football, but the return of starting center Frazier was a nice boost. Also, the best news is that Frazier and quarterback Russell Wilson had no problems taking snaps in Frazier’s first game since Wilson entered the lineup as the starting QB.
Before his ankle injury, Frazier was one of the best centers in the AFC, let alone the NFL. Now that he’s back on the moving train, he hopes he can continue to improve his game, stabilize the Steelers’ offensive line, and continue to play at a high level.
