“If I were asked to define motherhood, I would have to define it as love in its purest form, unconditional love.” -Unknown
When I read that quote, I couldn’t agree more. I thought I knew what love was, but after my sweet Bella girl was born, I realized that my heart was capable of loving much more deeply than I ever thought. In the first few days and weeks after I brought her home, I watched her sleep, my eyes filled with happy tears, and my heart soared. I couldn’t believe she was here and that she was all mine. my dream girl. Now, with a silly and (very) active 8 month old, I watch my daughter suck her toes, talk endlessly, take her diaper off, try to crawl, etc. My love for continues to grow.
In 2020, I sat down and asked myself what my purpose in life was, and sometimes I didn’t know the answer. Admittedly, I think it’s due to the isolation and the sheer amount of time for self-reflection, but now my purpose is very clear. I am supposed to be a mother, educate my daughter and love her every day.
Happy early Mother’s Day to all you moms (and stepmoms!).
