I went to the city’s first Mardi Gras for New Orleans’ crazy week. There’s no need to excuse to celebrate in the parade. Or in this case the parade days ending with Mardi Gras (fat Tuesday) as Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent.
Yes, believe it or not, this week’s multiple parades are all about Easter calendars. In 1892, Rex Parade introduced the Mardi Gras colors of purple, gold and green. Purple represents justice. Green represents faith. Gold represents power.
But as you see in my picture below, you have all the colours under the sun.

The family arrives early on St. Charles Avenue and set up. The trolley is just as slow as dragging kids into the house!
