Emily Gold, a cheerleader who attended Los Osos High School in California and appeared on America’s Got Talent last month, was found dead by suicide on Friday, September 20th.
She was 17 years old.
Gold’s body was found under a bridge on eastbound I-210 in Rancho Cucamonga, according to the San Bernardino Coroner’s Office.
Therefore, authorities believe the girl took her own life.
Gold, along with other members of the Los Osos High School dance team, impressed judges on America’s Got Talent a few weeks ago.
After passing the audition, the group made it to the quarter-finals of the show, but were eliminated in August.
“It was absolutely amazing,” panelist Simon Cowell said of the performance at the time. “What I loved about it was, first of all, the energy. I think what we just saw was everything a great school should do, which is to encourage talent and friendship.”
We’ve added judges:
“It reminded me of watching the movies ‘High School Musical’ and thinking that every kid should go to a school like that.”
a GoFundMe campaign A fundraising campaign in Gold’s memory has already reached almost half of its $50,000 goal, with the money to be sent to Emily’s grieving family.
“There were so many who loved and respected Emily Gold and we want you to know that she is now resting in peace,” Gold’s friend wrote on Facebook.
“But she will always be remembered by her fellow Grizzlies and those who loved her with all their heart and soul. Thank you, Emily Gold, for all you did in this world. You did more than enough. Hang in there, Emily. Hang in there.”
On August 13, Gold spoke to People magazine about being a reality TV star.
“When I’m performing, corrections come in up until five minutes before I go on stage, so I really think about every correction,” she told the outlet.
“So really thinking about all of that and applying it is my biggest priority onstage.”
Our condolences go out to the friends, family and loved ones of Emily Gold.
