The Atlanta Falcons are the favorites to finish atop the NFC South at the end of the 2024 season.
The Falcons were previously listed at -125 odds to win the division and are now listed at -130.
Following Atlanta is Tampa Bay at +320. Tampa Bay’s opening line is a little short at +300. The Buccaneers are in second place despite having won the past three division titles.
Let’s take a look at the odds from DraftKings Sportsbook as of August 29th.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: +320 (bet $10 to win $42 total)
New Orleans Saints: +400 (bet $10 to win $50 total)
Carolina Panthers: +1100 (Bet $10 to win $120 total)

So let’s take a look at the key points you need to know about each team in the NFC South.
Atlanta Falcons
2023-24 Division End: 3rd place (3-3)
Conclusion: Atlanta acquired new veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins and handed the coaching reins over to Raheem Morris. Those two moves were obviously enough to vault them to the top of the division-winning odds board. The Falcons last won the division in 2016, but Cousins led Minnesota to the NFC North title two seasons ago in 2022. Could his signing help Atlanta post its first winning record since 2017?
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2023-24 Division End: 1st place (4-2)
Conclusion: The Buccaneers have won their division three years in a row, twice with Tom Brady and last season with Baker Mayfield. After going 4-2 in the division and beating Philadelphia in the wild-card round, the Buccaneers re-signed Mayfield. Tampa Bay also signed star wide receiver Mike Evans to a contract extension. Things seem to be staying the same for the Buccaneers. Can the Falcons end their recent dominance?
The Falcons acquired linebacker Matthew Judon from the Patriots in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick.
New Orleans Saints
2023-24 Division End: 2nd place (4-2)
Conclusion: The Saints’ odds of winning the division are currently at +400, slightly higher than their opening odds of +350. Derek Carr led New Orleans to a 9-8 record, including a 4-2 record in the division, but he couldn’t give the Saints the momentum they needed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2020. They ended the season with back-to-back wins over the Buccaneers and Falcons. Can they carry that momentum into next season?
Carolina Panthers
2023-24 Division End: 4th place (1-5)
Conclusion: Carolina’s odds have shrunk from +1500 in March to +1100. One positive for Carolina is they have a quarterback. Well, probably. No. 1 pick Bryce Young struggled last season, but it’s still not clear if that was a result of the supporting cast or his play. The Panthers have a new coach and are looking to develop Young into the talent most expected him to be entering the NFL a year ago.
