armageddon conspiracy
in ArmageddonNASA has discovered that an asteroid will hit Earth within 18 days, putting humans on the same path as the dinosaurs. They plan to drill a hole into the asteroid and drop the core, but this means finding a professional excavator on short notice. To accomplish this goal, NASA recruits a team of veteran oil rig workers and misfits. Their ability to work in space as well as on Earth will determine whether they have a planet to return to when their mission is over.
plot of Armageddon ‘ is hilariously insane, but it’s backed by a great cast, including Billy Bob Thornton, a bumbling NASA executive in charge of recruiting Bruce Willis’s oil team. Ben Affleck plays the team’s best worker, but he often focuses more on his boss’s wife (played by Liv Tyler) than on his job. As for the job, its success depends on the talents of the eccentric oil team, whose characters are brought to life by eccentric genre veterans such as Steve Buscemi and Owen Wilson.
Great box office revenue, but criticized by critics
when Armageddon It premiered in 1998 and became a huge hit with audiences thanks to everything from its star-studded cast to Aerosmith’s hit songs and music videos. Against a budget of $140 million, the film grossed a staggering (or should I say interstellar?) $553.7 million. Surprisingly, the film never received a sequel, but its cultural influence continues to resonate to this day.
Sadly, Armageddon It didn’t exactly resonate with critics, with the film receiving an astronomically low 43% criticism rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Generally, critics complained that the film’s clever direction was marred by a very stupid screenplay. Still, the audience didn’t care. Armageddon Popcornmeter’s audience rating was much higher at 73%.
Critics aren’t wrong that this is the kind of script you need to turn off your head to enjoy. But if you do that, you’ll see that Armageddon The 90’s action successor to the 80’s “snob vs. snobby” films. Now, the snobs are running the show, but in the end they have to ask for help from the snobs just to save the world, and the resulting movie is very entertaining to watch.
Plus, the talented roster means you can always count on veteran actors to steal scenes with a combination of silly dialogue and killer lines. There’s also some fun physical comedy that helps give this disaster movie enough insane laughs to avoid deadly seriousness. Armageddon There’s also a touching romantic subplot, where the gooey sweetness of these characters’ love pairs perfectly with the salty cynicism of…well, almost everyone.
Can you find it? Armageddon Do you want an out-of-this-world hit like us, or an asteroid to wipe us out by the time the credits roll? We won’t know until it’s streaming on Disney+. Please be careful. Certain Aerosmith songs will stay in your head for a long time after this one ends.
