Brother of deceased fitness icon Renee Simmons On Saturday, October 5th, Lenny spoke at a celebration of life held at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. During his speech, Lenny revealed a “little secret” to the audience. He has spent most of his career in sports.
“Just like underneath the beautiful things and clothes that Clark Kent wears, [Richard] I’m wearing a tank top and shorts,” Renee said Saturday. “Why? Because we think God has a different plan for him and to help the saints and angels get in shape, which we know and love.” I want to make sure I’m wearing my normal clothes.”
Lenny continued. “So what I’m saying here is, even if he’s not here, I know he’s going to be fine here tonight. Richard Simmons will forever be sweating with the Hollies.” I guess.”
Richard Simmons has been a fitness legend since the 1970s. Simmons gained fame as the pioneer of the “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” aerobic workout and started his own fitness studio, Slimmons, which he closed in 2016. Simmons died at his home in Los Angeles on July 13, a day after celebrating his 76th birthday. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. A family spokesperson confirmed in August that his cause of death was “an accident with complications from a recent fall and contributing factors to heart disease.” Tom Esty In a statement at the time.
“The toxicology report came back negative for all but the medications Richard was prescribed,” Esty said in August. “The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this time of great loss. …The world has truly lost an angel.”

Simmons was best known for his weight loss program and series of aerobics videos. Sweat over oldies. On Friday, July 12, the day before his death, he shared a post on Facebook thanking his fans for their birthday messages.
“Thank you,” he wrote. “I’ve never received so many messages about my birthday in my life. I’m sitting here writing this email. Have the most beautiful Friday rest.”
