Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the meeting of the CBI Director General’s Appointment Committee on Monday, attended by the opposition leaders of Lok Sabah Rahul Gandhi and the Supreme Court Justice of India Sanjib Khanna.
The meeting was held on Monday evening at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting precedes the end of the two-year deadline for incumbent CBI Director Praveen Sood on May 25th.
Sood, a senior IPS officer in Karnataka executives in 1986, was the state’s Director of Police (DGP) before his appointment. He took over as director of the Premier Research Institute on May 25, 2023.
The appointment of the CBI Director will be made by the central government on the recommendations of a three-person appointment committee led by the Prime Minister and consisting of the opposition leaders of Roxaba and the Supreme Court of India.
