1 hour video Published on Saturday Gamers Nexus, a YouTube channel focused on PC gaming hardware, has accused NZXT’s PC rental program of being a “bait and switch” tactic where prices and specifications are constantly changed.
The Flex program allows customers to rent pre-built gaming PCs starting at $59 per month (mouse, keyboard, and monitor not included). However, according to Gamers Nexus, NZXT changes the specs and prices of its PC models “sometimes daily”, offering similar model names but completely different setups depending on whether you’re looking to buy or rent. They are offering PCs. Also, as packages move back and forth, prices change rapidly, obscuring the potential value of any listed “discounts.”
The video shows one example: NZXT Players: 3 PCs It is listed as equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card and an Intel Core i7-13700KF with the “Purchase” option selected. However, when I view the same PC model in the “Subscribe” option, I see that the same processor has a less powerful Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti.
I mentioned that despite the different GPUs, NZXT lists both models as having the same estimated frames per second for games such as: star field and call of duty modern warfare.
Gamers Nexus also highlights other elements of the Flex program, including pricing and “aggressive” service terms that entice customers to pay more than just buying a PC outright. The Verge NZXT did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and no responses have been posted to its community area or social media channels.
“At this point, we only believe this is a scam,” Gamers Nexus Editor-in-Chief Steve Burke said in the video. “Performance claims alone are extremely misleading, especially when the only meaningful difference in one of them is the word ‘super’, which makes many people, especially the possibility of renting or buying a pre-built Because some people don’t understand this word. ”
