Former Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Brian Braman is undergoing treatment for a rare, aggressive cancer, and his longtime agent describes the situation as extremely serious.
The 38-year-old Braman has undergone multiple surgeries while being treated in Seattle, according to the GoFundMe page set up to help with the costs. Braman was diagnosed with cancer in February.
“At Stellat Sports, Brian Braham has always defended strength, resilience and leadership,” Braham’s agent Sean Stellat told KPRC 2 in Houston. “He is a pillar and a staple of the underdogs.
“Now, in the face of cancer, he embodies those qualities more than ever. If there’s someone who can fall into cancer, I’m Brian Braman, who’s always thought of family. He’s the battle for his life.”
Braman’s Gofundme has raised more than $52,000 on Saturday morning, with former Texans star JJ Watt giving him $10,000, and other former teammates also making contributions.
Braman played seven seasons in the NFL from 2011 to 2017. He joined the team for the playoffs and won the Super Bowl with the Eagles after blocking punts in the divisional round. The Super Bowl LII victory was Braman’s final NFL game.
