The highest voter turnout for the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections was recorded in Karvir with 84.96% participation and the lowest in Colaba with 44.44% participation.
According to data from the Election Commission of India, Kolhapur had the highest turnout among the constituencies at 76.25%, followed by Gadjiroli at 73.68% and Jalna at 73.30%.
As many as 10 constituencies each recorded a turnout of over 70%, marking a sharp change from Maharashtra’s past trend of low turnout.
The Election Commission said in a November 20 press release that it has taken several steps to make voting easier and has launched an incentive campaign to encourage voters to go to the polls.
However, all these measures failed to woo voters in cities like Mumbai, Pune and Thane. Mumbai city recorded the lowest voter turnout of 52.07% among the 10 assembly constituencies.
Despite modest participation by urban voters, the Maharashtra assembly elections recorded higher turnout than the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where voter turnout reached 61.39%.
According to an official ECI statement, Kolhapur district had the highest voter turnout in 10 seats at 76.25%, followed by Gadshiroli at 73.68% (3 constituencies) and Jalna at 72.30% (5 constituencies). The lowest turnout was 52.07% in the Mumbai city region, which has 10 assembly constituencies.
