The bookmakers got what they wanted from Gold Cup Odds Market: USA vs. Mexico and Houston Mexico in the championship showdown that won the weekend of July 4th.
On Sunday at 7pm, Fox, the US men’s national team and Elt Risk Air were off.
“This is definitely the match we want. I think Mexico is the biggest rival in the United States,” Bett MGM Nevada’s Scott Shelton said Friday evening.

Mexico moves to favorites
On Wednesday, Team USA scored two Diegolna goals in the first 15 minutes, winning Guatemala in the 2-1 semi-finals. Mexico beat Honduras 1-0.
BetMgm Nevada then posted the three-way odds for Sunday’s title Tilt, throwing Mexico +170/USA +170, declaring a draw at +200.
However, our neighbors in the south later moved to favorites.
“When it comes to tickets, there’s literally one ticket in the US more than Mexico, but in terms of money, it’s 3/1 in Mexico.
That action has Mexico a modest +145 favorite, with the US tied at +190 to +210. That is, if you place a $100 bet on Team USA and the Americans win, if the US wins within 90 minutes within the time of injury, you can earn $190 (total payment of $290).
And it’s important to be aware of that.
If you bet the US on a three-way market, that bet will not extend to overtime/penalty kicks. So if the US continues to win overtime or penalties, tickets will be a loser.
To avoid that possibility, you might want to consider a two-way “trophy lifting” market where Mexico is -135 and the US is money (+100). Then, whether the game ends with restrictions or go on an overtime/penalty kick, your bet is live.

Ties go to sportsbook
As is often the case in soccer, particularly in high-profile international matches, BetMgm Nevada wants to see the US and Mexico tie up after 90 minutes and injury time.
“At the kickoff, we need a draw, and that’s our best case scenario,” Shelton said. “Mexico bets as heavily as America.”
So, on the surface, the bookmakers are on Sunday games, going overtime, and even cheering on penalty kicks if possible. That’s certainly what Caesars Sports wants, with victory from red, white and blue on the weekend of July 4th.
“Draws are always book-friendly,” said the director of Caesars’ soccer trading mark Vickerdyke. “In the end, the US is most advantageous to the book to get the job done, if possible, with penalties.”
