The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t expect Zach Frasier to start all his rookie season. However, when Nate Herbig collapsed that year, they gave them the opportunity to know that they might have hit gold on their second round pick. Frazier has accomplished a lot with his rookie campaign. He also wants to focus on becoming a leader in the future.
“I think that’s the next step,” Fraser said. In an interview with Missi Matthews on Steelers.com. “When you come in, you feel like you have to first establish yourself as a player before anyone sees you as a leader. I’m really going to keep my head down and continue working. And if I have the opportunity to guide it, that’s where I grow.”
No one expected Frazier to become a leader in 2024. He intervened as a starter with a very short notice. Nonetheless, he had a very impressive rookie season. He played in 15 games and started doing all of them. He missed two games with an injury, but he still played a whopping 976 snaps. Fraser was very reliable, especially in the season when Steelers’ depth was being tested in a major way.
Despite being a rookie, Fraser finds himself in a very good company. Focus on professional football At 76.8, he was awarded the sixth highest overall grade across all eligible centres. He had the sixth highest run blocking grade and the 22nd highest pass blocking grade.
That said, center is the offensive line quarterback. Frazier appears to be a relatively modest player. I hope his career will develop and he will develop stubbornly in his Pittsburgh position. He needs to slowly become more of a leader. Considering the way his career began, that’s not something that everyone should be concerned about.
The entire offensive line has some promising signs for the future. Mason McCormick took on a role expanded in 2024 due to injuries, and he did a solid job. The Steelers also essentially have an additional rookie next year in Troy Fautanu’s first full season. There’s a lot to be excited about with this unit, and Zach Frasier is in the middle.
