Shane Gillis was fired Saturday Night Liveafter being fired five years ago.
In a vacuum, this decision by the producer should not be a surprise.
Gillis is a highly successful stand-up comedian who has received over 23 million viewers on YouTube in 2021.
Gillis also filmed a Netflix special entitled “Beautiful Dogs.”
And recently he agreed to a partnership with Bud Light for a stand-up tour.

Gillis is a funny guy and he did a solid job, but here’s what you’ll find:
Shane Gillis was fired from Saturday Night Live five years ago when he hosted the gig
Shane Gillis was hired to become a cast member Saturday Night Live 2019. And he was fired after a while.
Like, day later.
Prior to Season 45, executives overturned Gillis’ employment course after a clip of his anti-Asian slur on a podcast went viral on Twitter.

In one article on a podcast with fellow Matt McCusker, the host riffed on Chinatown, using the aforementioned slur for Gillis and using the word “noodles” instead of noodles to mimic the Chinese accent.
Gillis apologized, and also said he might make a joke that is deemed inappropriate, calling him a “boundary-pushing comedian” who sometimes misses Mark.
The show may not have helped Shane’s cause, who just hired Bowen Yang, the first Asian American cast member.
“We want SNL to have a variety of voices and perspectives within the show. We hired Shane for his strength of talent as a comedian and an impressive audition for SNL.” NBC News 2019.
“We weren’t aware of his previous statements that have emerged over the past few days.

“The language he used was offensive, hurtful and unacceptable.”
But that’s not forever.
Shane hosted “SNL” twice…and it was all good
Gillis hosted SNL twice, not once. Because he was suddenly removed from the show’s roster.
And it appears that there was Zero Drama on the set.
So I think the beef between the comics and the world’s most famous sketch show is officially dead from New York.
