Nostalgic Coca-Cola enthusiasts have argued that the Passover version of kosher, made from sugar cane instead of high fructose corn syrup, is the authentic taste of soft drinks.
Many Coca-Cola bottles in the US have undergone a small but major change this month as the red hats were replaced with yellow hats this month, indicating that the drink is Passover kosher.
However, it is not just the observational Jews who purchase yellow cap bottles. Many non-Jews are replenishing kosher with a Coca-Cola Passover version. Because it is made with the original recipe, cane sugar, instead of the non-Passover kosher high fructose corn syrup. Nostalgic Coca-Cola enthusiasts claim that the kosher in the Passover recipe is the authentic taste of soft drinks.
This year, a virus campaign on social media by Yellow Cap Coca-Cola fans meant that kosher for Passover products was in particular in demand.
However, health professionals have warned that both sugar cane and high fructose corn syrup can be harmful to your health.
