Disadvantages of Heated Jackets and Vests
To be honest, the only drawback I can think of isn’t really a major one.
These are just some parameters to consider when choosing whether to wear a heated jacket or a regular coat.
✔️ Not water resistant
Like any other electronic device, You don’t want to get the battery pack or cord wet..
So, if it’s cold and rainy, you probably won’t be wearing this jacket or vest.
I wouldn’t wear this jacket or vest when it’s cold and snowy or when I want to take my nephews and nieces sledding.
Don’t use it when sleeping when camping in the cold as you want to avoid moisture, which can get into the battery pack pocket.
Maybe you could drape it over something and keep it low.
This is similar to how you sleep with a heating pad on your body, even though you “shouldn’t” do it (right?).
✔️ Easy to wear
It’s as simple as opening your coat closet, pulling out the coat, jacket or sweatshirt that best suits the weather (and your outfit), and heading outside.
However, in the case of a heated jacket, if you want to use the heating function, Charge the battery in advance It comes with enough charge to last as long as you need it.
It’s a slightly inconvenient extra step that makes this your “go-to” jacket, but by no means a killer – we’re not that lazy!
✔️ There are lots of safety instructions to keep in mind
Personally, I don’t think most of the guidelines are particularly relevant to how you use a jacket, but in the bigger picture, I think many of the guidelines apply to many other situations.
Here are some examples to help you understand what I mean.
❌ Do not use on infants, children, people with disabilities, or people with poor circulation or other heat-sensitive individuals.
❌ Do not use pins on clothing as they may damage electrical wiring (such as celebration buttons). Disney World Temperatures can reach the 40s during several weeks in the winter.
❌ Never wear the inner liner if it is wet.
❌ Do not allow the heating element to come into contact with bare skin.
❌ Be careful not to pinch the cord.
❌ Do not store the battery pack together with metal objects to avoid the risk of short circuit.
