steam This week we are going to provide a compatibility rating that is specified when the game is supported by the company’s operating system. The Steamos compatibility rating is expected to be rolled out “in the coming weeks.”
This metric is an extension of the Steam Deck verification program, which awards a checkmark to the game based on a data subset within its review process. In other words, if the game developer has already completed validation of the Steam deck, the game developer does not need to take any additional steps. On the player end, compatible games will have a blue checkmark when viewed on the Steam Store and Steam client while running the operating system on devices other than the Steam Deck.
This announcement is primarily a future grounds movement. At this point it is the only handheld other than a steam deck officially running the valve operating system. However, Lenovo is the second iteration of CES hardware this year, and Valve clearly has plans to grow the number of Steamos platforms. If Steamos actually takes off as a standalone service, the landscape can begin to look completely different.
