US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses said Washington is attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities and it has something to do with “misdirection” designed to surprise Tehran.
Heggs said at a briefing on Sunday that the United States “doesn’t seek war.”
However, he added: “Let me be clear. When our people, our partners, or our interests are threatened, we act promptly and decisively.”
Chairman Dan Kane said the US had adopted “several deception tactics,” including moving several B-2 bombers into the Pacific Ocean and acting as cowards.
He added that all three Iranian nuclear sites targeted had maintained “very serious damage,” but he added that it would take time to fully establish.
With the strike operation dubbed, Operation Midnight Hammer competed for the first use of the GBU-57’s massive weapon intruder (MOP) “Bunkerbuster” bomb, accompanied by the second-longest B-2 Spirit Bomber mission to date.
Seven B-2 bombers carried out a strike in Iran, dropping a total of 14 mops on Fordow and Natantz, Kane said. Isfahan was attacked by a tomahawk missile.
Hegseth said the attack “takes several months and weeks of positioning and preparation” when Trump issued the orders.
