The State Department said the time it takes to approve a passport renewal has dropped by about one-third since last summer, and is often completed within the promised six to eight weeks.
The offer is available to applicants aged 25 and above who hold a 10-year passport that has expired within the past five years, and the change only applies to regular tourist passports.
