Firefighters in northern Idaho responded to a brush fire on Sunday…and now two people have been shot dead.
The Cootenai County Sheriff’s Office said firefighters responded to a report of the brush fire around 1:30pm local time in Canfield Mountain. The shooting began about 30 minutes later, authorities say.

The two who were shot and killed were firefighters. CNN Report. Although filming began more than four hours ago, no one is currently in custody.

The brush fire could be set to invite firefighters to the scene prior to the shooting, CNN adds. However, the motivation at this point is still unknown. The 911 audio in the scene captures the desperate situation.
Cootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris The department doesn’t know how many shooters there are… but he says local law enforcement (working with the FBI) has pledged to “neutralise this threat.”

Governor of Idaho Brad Little I went to social media and shared a statement about the incident… calling it a “big direct attack on our brave firefighters.”
As this is still an active shooter situation, locals are being asked to leave the area.
