Recent appearances in Jimmy Kimmel Live, snow white Starr Rachel Zegler chatted about the upcoming live-action Disney Princess feature film. Zegler explained how scenes with seven dwarves were essentially three different shoots, and later added the dwarves’ CG characteristics to get the layers needed to compound the scene in a performance.
“It basically runs three different versions of every scene,” she explained. “You’re with humans in the space, so you have an emotional connection with someone, so in our case, do it with the puppee and in the case of these iconic characters.”
Wait a second… The Dwarf might have been a puppet instead of a CG character. This is a proven way to ruin your iconic Disney buddy. We still tremble, thinking of Sebastian, Lumiere and Cogsworth, the flounder with their eyes.
As Zegler explained, it becomes even more interesting. “They were full. The Lion King On Broadway, whatever Julie Taymall did, it’s like a puppet like they’re stuck on the puppeteer’s feet, moving around with their hands for all of those iconic characters. ”
So instead of the problematic cast and ugly CG, we could have had a happy medium between live actor performers and handmade doll works by artists. That could have been labyrinth Jim Henson-style Muppet fairy tale adaptation? It would have been far better than what we seem to get. Screw it in, they could have even made them into Muppets, and it would have been more exciting.
Instead, our triple threat girl had to put three times the amount of work into the scene. Zegler continues. And you do what you call a clean pass. Essentially, you’re “whistle” while you’re working.[is] Just drop it on the floor. And I hope that someday there will be a cut of that movie.
Or simply release a puppet cut. Check out the clip below to see Zegler while filming dancing in the choreographed shots. One thing is for sure: put Zegrar in the movie with the Muppets and that’s what you need!
