Have you ever watched a TV series and, halfway through the episode, you immediately realized that this was something special? Does this mean that the show you were enjoying was the episode that leveled up to a modern classic? ? the last of us I did that. battlestar galactica. lost. The show’s fourth episode, “Centani,” is a shocking, horrifying, yet brilliant episode of television centered around Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti) that upends the show’s entire emotional resonance. That’s amazing.
We weren’t quite sure what to think of Sophia until this episode. We knew she was in Arkham because she was accused of murdering several women, which earned her the nickname “The Hangman.” I knew Oz (Colin Farrell) was afraid of her, but I thought it was mainly because she was the head of the family he was trying to take over. And even though Oz didn’t kill his brother, we thought he succeeded in convincing her. fundamentally, penguin I wanted Sophia to be seen as an intimidating but emotionally unstable and malleable villain. No more. Now that we know exactly who she is and how she got there, she’s clearly the most interesting character on the show.
The end of the final episode, “Bliss”, saw Victor wreck a car to save Sophia and Oz from the Maroni crime family. However, Oz told Victor to stay away from Sofia, which seemed odd at the time since they both agreed. Now, in some great storytelling at the beginning of episode 4, Sofia is finally informed that it was Oz who killed her brother, and it becomes a whole other thing that Sofia abandoned her. This is a revelation we assumed would happen at some point, but knowing it this way added some interesting context.
But that was just the beginning. From there, we jump into the past and meet a young, happy Sofia and her father, crime boss Carmine Falcone (here played by Mark Turturro instead of John Turturro, who played this character in the movie). (played by Strong). batman) and her younger brother Alberto (Michael Zegen). The family seems very happy, and Carmine even tells Sophia that he plans to leave the family business to her, despite her brother. big dragon house atmosphere.
Of course it doesn’t go as planned. Sofia traces the story back to Sofia and Alberto’s mother and learns that someone has murdered a woman and covered up the crime as a suicide. Sofia learns of this, thinking it is a private matter, but Oz, the driver, harshly criticizes her.
Sure, this is a betrayal, but at this point we’re still seeing it from Oz’s perspective. It is only later that Sophia realizes that it was Oz who set in motion an unfathomable chain of events. Based on Oz’s information, Carmine confronts Sophia about her findings, but everything changes when she even hints that perhaps her father killed the women. He frames her for murder and sends her to Arkham, never to leave.
It was pretty terrible that her father betrayed her so quickly and brutally. But when you learn that Sofia’s entire family except for her brother lied about her mental state to keep her there, you really feel sorry for her. And I feel worse and worse as the episode ends. requiem for dream Arkham’s doctors and other prisoners appear to be part of the plan to turn calm and intelligent Sophia into the violent, insane murderer her father is lying about. The violence and betrayal seemed endless, but we later find out that it lasted for ten years.
It all started in Oz, as we watch innocent Sophia endure mental and physical horrors. Your perspective begins to change. Oz is a famous Batman villain, so is he really the hero of this story? He’s just a former driver trying to seize power. Or will the protagonist be the rightful heir to the throne, betrayed by almost everyone she loved, and fight her way out of hell and back? That’s a much more interesting story. and once penguin When you come out of the flashback and come back to the present, it’s a different show.
Now we are on Sophia’s side. We want to see her take revenge. We are furious that Oz killed Alberto, the only family member who believed in Sofia and fought for her. We long for her to take revenge on her uncle and aunt, and she gets her revenge in a great final scene where she murders almost everyone in the house without lifting a finger. chef’s kiss

This article just scratches the surface of the amazing choices (wallpaper! fork! cake!) and, most importantly, Milioti’s absolutely award-worthy performance. In fact, the episode was so good that I’m totally on Team Sophia now. They should change the name of the show to “Falcone”.
