The UAE, which is quickly thinking, defeated Rain and Qatar in the Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers, retiring an astounding 10 batters on their way to a 163-run victory.
Needing a victory to integrate the top spots of Group B in Asian Qualifiers, the UAE raced 192-0 after 16 overs, captain Eshaoza scored 113 from 55 balls and 42 balls from partner Tersa Satish 74 off.
However, as bad weather threatens to affect the game, Oza and Satish retired before the rest of the batting lineup padded.
As a result, 192-0 reached 192. The first team retired all 10 batters in male or female T20, with the UAE rolling Qatar at 29 in 11.1 overs to score two points.
As the team cannot declare in T20 cricket, the UAE had to take this strange behaviour to speed up the game.
Only topsides from each of the three groups in Asian Qualifiers will advance to the knockout stage, from which two finalists will reach the final Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers for next year’s World Cup in England and Wales.
Seven players recorded ducks in Qatar’s innings, and eight retired UAE experienced the same fate.
