Teamsters President Sean O’Brien argued the snub was an “opportunity” to continue demonstrating the value of American workers.
The head of the nation’s largest labor union said Sunday he is about to announce whether he will support former President Trump or Vice President Harris ahead of the election. The 2024 presidential election.
Teamsters Chairman Sean O’Brien, speaking on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” said his final step before endorsing her was to discuss labor issues with Harris. President Biden Withdrew from the election.
“Under our guidance, we will bring all candidates before the rank and file and executive committee and await Vice President Harris to make an appointment to meet with us,” O’Brien said.
O’Brien said the Teamsters are a “very Democratic-leaning labor union” but ultimately want to support candidates who are best for workers.

“we, Vice President Harris said, “I told someone the other day I wouldn’t hire someone who didn’t give me an interview, and this is my chance to ask her questions about Teamsters-specific issues and labor issues,” O’Brien said.

According to CBS, the Harris campaign is working with the Teamsters to set up a meeting.
O’Brien said in January that the union had met with Trump to “discuss the facts” two weeks before the Iowa caucuses and that the union had “put its cards on the table.”
““He has maintained, you know, that he is 100 percent supportive of the union, but looking back historically, obviously there are some issues that we have with him,” O’Brien said at the time.

In July, O’Brien Republican National ConventionHe was well-received among union members — polls showed only 11% opposed his appearance — and he was apparently barred from speaking at the Democratic National Convention a month later.

Despite the Teamsters’ long history with the Democratic Party and the warm welcome he received from Republicans, O’Brien recently announced that he will no longer be “a free ride for anyone.”

“Both sides will ask us for support and if the situation is not good for our party members, they will not get the benefits they got under the previous government or any other government,” he asserted.
