Team USA Hockey Tar Matthew and Brady Tokachuk The modern-day Bash brothers helped turn American hockey awareness into their heads.
Matthew, the forward for Stanley Cup champions Florida Panthers and Ottawa Senator captain brother Brady, never played on the same team together outside of the 2023 NHL All-Star Game. The first four countries’ showdown in February 2025.
“We played together and talked about this moment forever,” Matthew told NHL.com before the tournament. “And now, it’s amazing because it’s finally happening, and we’re so grateful for it. We’re just so much fun.”
Matthew and Brady come from the hockey family in the true sense of the phrase. Both the duo were born in Scottsdale, Arizona, but their father Keithplayed for the NHL Phoenix Coyote.
The brothers took a unique journey into the NHL with Matthew and Brady cutting their hockey teeth in St. Louis after their father was traded for Bruce in 2001.

Matthew Tokachuk

Matthew was only three years old when his father Keith was traded with the St. Louis Bruce. That’s why he spent many of his most formative childhoods at the hockey arena.
“When you say you grew up in the rink, people say, ‘Oh, yeah, dad played, but you really didn’t grow up there,” Matthew said. Athletic 2019. “No, I grew up literally on Link. Even in St. Louis, my dad pulled out certain days from school, so I think I could go to Link.”

After a season with the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League, Matthew was drafted sixth overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2016 NHL Draft.
Matthew played six seasons in the flames before being traded to the Florida Panthers in July 2022, winning the Stanley Cup in 2024 when Florida defeated the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 of the final.

Brady Tokachuk

Like his older brother, Brady spent most of his childhood in hockey games.
Brady also followed Matthew’s footsteps and played two seasons in the US Hockey National Development Program, but their paths shifted when Brady decided to explore college hockey.
From 2017 to 2018, Brady spent one season at Boston University, scoring 31 points in 40 games. He was drafted fourth overall by Senators Ottawa in the 2018 NHL Draft. Brady was named the 10th captain in franchise history in November 2021.
Brady also captained Team USA at the 2024 IIHF World Championships and was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Keith Tokachuk

Keith, the father of Matthew and Brady, is one of the greatest American hockey players of all time, grew up in Medford, Massachusetts, and completed a season of college hockey at Boston University.
Keith was drafted 19th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in 1990, and spent an 18-year career with the NHL with the Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, St. Louis Blues and the Atlanta Thrashers.
It reminded me that when his sons were young, Keith relied on the Coyote equipment manager, Stan Wilsonto help Matthew and Brady get dropped off in the arena.
“When they were done, they terrified the place,” Keith said. Athletic 2019. “And they’re more confused for Stan and the others, but you know Stan. You really have to work hard to make him mad. ”
After Matthew won the Stanley Cup with the Panthers in 2024, Keith had no trouble acknowledging that he was overcome by emotions in the crowd.

Chantal Tkachuk

Keith married his wife, Matthew and Brady’s mom, who played for the St. Louis Blues in February 1997. Meanwhile, he praised Chantal for much of his success.

After Matthew and Brady were born, Chantal recalls using her husband’s ice rink workplace as a means of childcare.

Matthew and Brady’s younger sister, Tallinn, are skilled athletes in their own right.
