Heller, 47, who joined Swift’s band in 2007, took to social media on Tuesday, Dec. 10, to reflect on the ups and downs she’s experienced while touring.
Heller shared a series of photos of herself and Swift, 34, performing at various locations, captioning it: Instagram He gave a long and moving eulogy, detailing his “once-in-a-lifetime ride.”
Starting with some of the tour’s toughest demands, Heller writes: There is no more airport. No more dragging your suitcase, stuffing it into a Mono bag, down an escalator, through a line, and out of baggage claim. No more warm-ups or cool-downs. No more looking at the clock 20 times to make sure you don’t miss a call. You don’t have to say goodbye to your family or ask them, “How many times have you slept now?” No more jet lag. ”
Afterwards, Heller’s eulogy was Elas tourstarted in March 2023 and has played 152 shows on five continents, making it the highest-grossing tour in history.
“No more getting lost in new languages, cultures, cuisines and accented chatter. No more snow in Tokyo, watch factories in Switzerland, museums in Sweden, bass shops in Australia, steaks in Rio, tattoos in Ireland. But in Germany, running is gone, and in Amsterdam, flowers are gone,” Heller continued. “It’s finished.”
The musicians then moved on to their most memorable highlights, such as feeling like a “gladiator” when stepping into the stadium. “No more lyrics that scream “strangers who are now your best friends.” Family and friends who just moments ago were telling stupid jokes have suddenly transformed into iconic giants, dancing in bright lights. No longer will we watch in awe as it towers and flourishes,” he wrote. “I’m no longer being asked to do the best I can and dig as deep as I can.”
Heller likened the tour’s final show in Vancouver on Sunday, Dec. 8, to a “graduation” of sorts, before ending her post with a message for Swift.
“You have earned tremendous respect and admiration from all those who have been fortunate enough to exert their efforts on you. Your blend of focus, heart, stamina, and joy has inspired those around you. “It brings out the best in everyone,” he wrote. “Thank you for trusting my part in your vision. It has been the ride of a lifetime. I love you.”
Swift confirmed she will advance to the finals. Elas tour on the June 13 show, calling the experience at the time “the most exhausting, all-encompassing, yet most fun, most rewarding, most amazing thing that has ever happened to me in my life.”
In an announcement made during the tour’s 100th show in Liverpool, England, she added that the tour had surpassed “everything” before thanking her fans for their support.
“You’ve done a lot to be with us, right?” Swift gushed then. “You’ve planned so far in advance, you’ve planned what you’re going to wear, you’ve memorized the lyrics, you’ve gotten here, you’ve figured out parking, you’ve figured out transportation.”
She continued, “I want to spend my 100th performance just thinking about that and living this moment with you and being here with you. Because you’re with us. Please know that I appreciate all the effort you put into… so, thank you.”
