Olympia Group’s Sunlight Group has entered into an investment agreement to acquire a 51% stake in Lehman Marine from Hopen.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Sunlight’s presence in the energy solutions market and expand its portfolio of “game-changing” technologies.
Based in Seewetal-Hitfeld, Germany, Lehmann Marine manufactures non-flammable lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery systems that are approved by international class associations such as Bureau Veritas, DNV and RINA.
Sunlight says Lehman Marine’s pipeline, which exceeds current production capacity, coupled with its scalability and “expertise” in manufacturing, will “play a critical role” in meeting growing demand for marine battery systems. He said that it is expected that.
Alexander Lehmann, Managing Director of Lehman Marine, said: Their extensive knowledge and decades of experience in the global battery market will significantly enhance our production.
“This partnership opens new avenues to more effectively meet the growing demand for our marine energy storage solutions, including our CUBE and COBRA battery systems.”
The research and development (R&D) teams of both companies will work together to develop new solutions.
Through joint initiatives such as common procurement of lithium batteries, automation of production lines, and “optimization of design costs,” the companies aim to improve operational efficiency and product competitiveness, and speed up production.
Loveros Bisalas, CEO of Sunlight Group, said: This strategic acquisition highlights our ability to identify and seize high-value opportunities.
“Combining our expertise with that of Lehman Marine puts us at the forefront of the rapidly growing marine battery market. We are well positioned to lead the transition to solutions and drive both innovation and growth in an industry poised for significant expansion.”
Sunlight has over 30 years of experience in lead-acid and lithium-ion battery manufacturing and specializes in advanced battery technology and manufacturing.
The company’s manufacturing facilities produce energy solutions for specialized sectors such as industrial mobility and subsea batteries.
