Midway through May, the Pittsburgh Steelers still don’t know if 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers will sign with them.
They continue to believe he has hope and is restraining hope, but there is no indication that he will sign.
In the case of NFL network analyst Greg Rosenthal, who appeared on the “Rock Stacker Podcast” Monday morning, the Steelers completely mismanaged Rogers’ situation and did a worse job than the rest of the teams have in the NFL.
That being said, Rosenthal still believes Rogers will sign with the Steelers, but he believes they don’t have the answer in any way, knowing that they need a quarterback.
“Well, I totally hope he’s with the Steelers, their owner is Art Rooney. He wants to talk about this anytime. He’s the owner, and he can say anything he wants. And he’s got Aaron Rogers going there now.” According to the video on the show’s YouTube page. “Anyway, it’s great content like Aaron Rodgers of the Steelers at this point in his career, like a good defense and a pretty good offensive line. That’s great content.
“Can you imagine another team other than the Steelers waiting for Aaron Rodgers breathlessly and not actually going there? They should definitely be in flames.”
Steelers team president and owner Art Rooney II said on Friday of the 2025 NFL Draft that the Steelers believed “we might get words soon” from Rogers regarding his decision.
It’s currently two weeks since the draft and Rogers hasn’t made a decision yet.
His public appearances and appearances on the Pat McCuffy Show in late April dealing with personal things away from his undivided, high-profile game, and he said he had no idea about football.
He threw alongside Los Angeles News Tealers receiver DK Metcalf this offseason, but there was no real sign that he would sign with the Steelers. He said on McAfee’s show that the Steelers didn’t give him a signing deadline and that if the team needs to move on from him while he’s going this offseason, then that’s the case.
But there the Steelers were still standing, passing quarterback through the 2025 NFL Draft to land Ohio State’s Wil Howard 185 overall in the sixth round. Currently, the Steelers have Mason Rudolph, Howard and Skyler Thompson on their roster.
They still have hope for Rogers.
It was a bit confusing, but the Steelers confused themselves. They deal with the best confusion that can wait for Rogers, even if they are criticised for how they did this in the most important position in the sport.
