Sean Miller is tied up Texas.
Miller spent the past three seasons as head coach Xavier – His second stint in the program – accepted the job as head coaching in Texas, a source told Fox Sports.
Miller, 56, was a major target for Longhorns athletic director Chris Delconte when Job last opened, but solidified Terry as the program’s full-time head coach when Intum’s head coach Rodney Terry and Texas defeated Xavier at the 2023 Sweet 16.
News that Terry had been fired in Texas came on Sunday, and less than two hours later, it was reported that Miller had headed for Austin with a coaching turnover rate that is as fast as you can see.
Miller, who scored a 487-196 record in 20 years as head coach, scored 65-40 in his second stint at Xavier, lifting the program to a sweet 16 two years ago, ironically winning his first four games for Texas this year.
Why so quickly?
Because the transfer portal will open on Monday. With a meeting that sent 14 teams to this season’s NCAA Tournament, filled with both key money and depth, waiting will only hurt your ability to build a roster and go to work.
Del Conte always liked Miller, who reached the NCAA tournament 13 times and reached Sweet 16 in a total of eight times.
