Food and Drug Administration officials recently escalated a recall of certain Quaker Oat Pancake Mix earlier this week, increasing the recall category to the most serious levels.
Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of Pepsi Co, previously announced a limited recall of certain boxes of Pearl Milling Company’s original pancakes and waffle mix on January 14th.
On Thursday, the FDA updated its recall category to Class I.[s] There is a reasonable probability that the use of a violation product or exposure will cause an offending adverse health effect or death. ”
In a January press release, the company noted that certain 2-pound boxes of its products contained “undeclared milk.”

“[The recall was announced] “The statement said,” after being warned by retail partners, “people with allergies or severe sensitivity to milk pose a risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction when consuming recalled products.” ”
The mix was distributed to retailers in 11 states: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Utah and Wisconsin. Consumers could have purchased the product that was recalled on November 18th last year.
Other pearl milling pancakes and waffle mixes have not been recalled and the recall is strictly related to UPC code 30000 65040 and products at Best Buy Best on September 12, 2025.

“No allergic reactions related to this issue have been reported to date,” the company said. “If a consumer is allergic to or sensitive to milk, it should not consume the product and throw it away immediately.”
Quaker oats have recalled multiple products over the past few years. In December 2023, Quaker oats reminded me of more than 20 different granola bars and cereals due to the risk of salmonella contamination.
In March 2021, the company was reminded of thousands of bags of sweet BBQ flavored with Quaker Rice Potato Chips, rather than the undeclared possibility of soybeans.
