Prime Minister Modi briefs President Biden on Ukraine visit and regional issues

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met US President Joe Biden and updated him on his recent visit to Ukraine, during which he met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Today I spoke to President Joe Biden over the phone. We had a detailed exchange of views on various regional and global issues, including the situation in Ukraine. I reiterated India’s full support for the early restoration of peace and stability,” PM Modi posted on social media platform ‘X’ after his meeting with Biden.

According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s consistent position of supporting dialogue and diplomacy, and expressed his full support for the early restoration of peace and stability.

The two leaders expressed shared concern over the situation in Bangladesh. “We also discussed the situation in Bangladesh and stressed the need for early normalisation and ensuring the safety and security of minorities in Bangladesh, particularly Hindus,” the prime minister said in the post.

The two leaders reiterated their determination to further strengthen cooperation in multilateral forums, including the Quad, and agreed to stay in touch.
