Detroit – We’re still not seeing if IndyCar officials will find humor on his new push-to-pass manipulation on Friday.
The Detroit Gramps Reit Course is well known in some areas, and decided to keep pushing him until power comes behind Kyle Kirkwood and reaches a point where it can pass through Kirkwood.
The contact caused minor damage to the underwing of Kirkwood’s car, but Kirkwood posted the fastest time by the end of the opening Indy Car Practice.
“He stopped in the middle [of the turn] And I tried to go, but he didn’t, and I thought I might move him out of the way and get a gap and then finish my run,” Power said. I didn’t even know who it was.
“I was behind someone so I’m off throttle and I keep pushing him until he passes this [other] Car, move him out of the way. ”
Kirkwood wasn’t mad, but said he wanted some sort of sanction (usually reducing practice time). As of Friday night, IndyCar officials had not said anything whether power would be lost on Saturday.
“Does it give him the right to push my car into some corners and cause almost a wreck?” Kirkwood said. “I don’t think so. … I’m hoping that Indycar will do the right thing with it. I’m sure they’ll do something. Who knows what?
Kirkwood is on social media (we think).
“It gets Will’s frustration,” Kirkwood said. “Everyone is stopping. I’m frustrated too. But the difference is that I’m not pushing guys, I’m not coming across the guys behind them. Everyone knows the will to animate them from time to time. That’s another moment.”
Andretti’s driver is the only driver not named Alex Pallow, who won this year.
“We’re fast, so I’m not frustrated,” Andretti said. “We’re quick. We’re a team that’s here to come and try to win everything with our strength to win.
