2002 PGA Championship winner Richbeam reflects Scotty Schaeffler’s sensational third round 65 with a quail hollow, pondering whether anyone can stop the world.
Today was an incredible round, but finished as Scotty did. [five under through the final five holes]that doesn’t happen around Quail Hollow – at least not for regular players!
As we know, Scotty is not normal.
After a 13-year-old bogey, there was Eagle at 2pm, a 15-year-old birdie, a birdie that was overlooked at 16, and another birdie at 17 and 18. You can’t write a better script than entering the final round.
What we saw today was like what we saw in the last two years when he was crazy and earning everything. It brings the best motivation in the game and heads straight towards their peers.
It was a bit surprising to see Lori. [McIlroy] Come out this week and come out a little on a flat surface. However, it’s not surprising to see Scotty bringing a slight tip out onto his shoulder.
He said, “Everyone has been talking about World No. 2. He shows us all that. He’s one of these players who dream of you taking a day or a year or a year.
Who could chase him on Sunday? It will take away another world.
These two players [Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau] They have to go out and shoot 64 as they sit five and six shots from the lead respectively – at least – hope Scotty doesn’t get out there early in his round and feel comfortable.
Yes, they have a chance, but you need to get Scotty out of his comfort zone. I don’t know what golf course or what situations are there.
Scotty is now in flow flow, just like he was with CJ Cup Byron Nelson when he won eight years ago.
He doesn’t give much hope to the puck he chased. For us, there seems nothing he finds to be vulnerable to entering the final round.
He’s making every round better and better, and hopes Scotty will go out there tomorrow with the same mindset.
Schaeffler “looks out” and takes the final round challenge
Scotty Schaeffler talks to the media after 6-under third round 65.
“that [winning] It means a lot. These tournaments are very important to us and you have the chance to work for the rest of your life and win major tournaments.
“I have a good opportunity to get out there and win a golf tournament tomorrow, but that’s going to take another really good round, there are a lot of great players chasing me on the leaderboard and someone is going to make a great round.
“It’s up to me to get out there and have another really good round and finish the tournament. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
