Penn State coach James Franklin believes college football needs a commissioner and has former Alabama coach Nick Saban in mind as a candidate.
“I think he’s the obvious choice, right?” Franklin said.
Franklin joked that Saban wouldn’t be thrilled with his comments, but he made the suggestion at Penn State’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal media day Sunday ahead of the Fiesta Bowl. The sixth-seeded Nittany Lions are preparing for Tuesday’s game against third-seeded Boise State.
The veteran coach responded to questions about Penn State’s backup quarterback situation after Beau Pribula transferred to Missouri a few weeks before the CFP opener, leaving the Nittany Lions to compete for options. was answering.
