Omeda Studios has unveiled a fully competitive summer calendar for free to play Third Person Action MOBA Foreheadsets the eSports action environment.
This has attracted attention from the community and the wider esports scene following the success of the recent summer Showdown Creators Tournament.
The Sunday Showdown Creator Tournament provided fast-paced competitive action for both players and fans, and gained strong engagement across social and editing channels driven by their predecessor’s deeply invested player base and creator community.
Now I can understand why Omeda Studio made its final move. CEO Robbie Singh said in an interview in April that the company had decided to consolidate all of its Dallas servers.
This reduced the difference in ping between West Coast and East Coast players, creating a more happy player and fair game, Singh said. Data collected over the course of months showed that centralized servers worked better for everyone, he said. The company used Hatra as a technical solution.
As a background, the fact that Omeda has an actual game is impressive. Shin, a huge fan of the original game, helped bring it back from death. Epic Games began work on the title, and then called Paragon a few years ago, but shut it down in 2018.
Singh’s Omeda Studio finally unveiled its title in August 2024 after four years of development (and a portion of $22 million raised, including grants from the epic game). The game debuted on PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms, and now has 2 million players on all of these platforms. As a result of the success, the team grew from about 5-10 to 87 when development began.
Back to Dallas: The game’s ping time was about 100 on the West Coast and 80 on the East Coast. Now, with improved technology, both coasts can operate at 40 ms of ping times. Players can usually see the difference. Singh told me last month, it’s usually the most competitive player.
This momentum sets the stage for a new era of grassroots and a regional competition with its predecessor’s championship circuit.
