No, it’s not an iPhone 17 render, it’s the new Xiaomi 14T Pro

Xiaomi’s new top phone is here. The look is familiar.

In the case of the Xiaomi 14T Pro, it seems that Xiaomi’s design chiefs simply said, “imagine next year’s iPhone and let’s design a phone to look like it.”

Naturally, the result looks very nice, even if not the most original. Xiaomi sent me a 14T Pro review unit in Titanium Gray color and I was surprised how much I liked it. It has a flat aluminum edge dotted with antenna wires, and a giant camera bump on the back that’s unmistakably iPhone-ish, but with one big difference. That means it has four camera units instead of three.

The phone is slightly larger than my iPhone 15 Pro Max and has ultra-thin bezels on the front. The only thing that really betrays it being an Android phone is the dot-sized camera cutout at the top of the display. It probably would have been overkill if Xiaomi had placed a pill-shaped dynamic island-like cut there.

I like the design overall. The phone is simple yet elegant. I even had a few people ask me, “What kind of iPhone is that?” That was a lot of fun.

Other than that, the new Xiaomi phone is a powerful beast, powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset, 12GB of RAM, 256/512/1,024GB of storage, 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging It is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery. The 6.67-inch AMOLED display has a resolution of 2,712×1,220 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, and a peak brightness of 4,000 nits.

Finally, the Leica-branded rear cameras on the back consist of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (the fourth circle hosts the flash) . It is equipped with a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front.

Finally, the phone comes with a number of AI features, including support for Circle to Search with Google and Google Gemini. This is a big deal since these features were previously only available on Google’s Pixel devices and some Samsung smartphones. Xiaomi 14T Pro also has many other AI features created by Xiaomi, such as AI notes, AI recorder, and AI image editing.
