The Brooklyn Nets will honor Vince Carter’s career by retiring his jersey number 15 on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
This marks the seventh retirement of a player in franchise history, and Carter’s No. 15 will join those of Drazen Petrovic (No. 3), Jason Kidd (No. 5), John Williamson (No. 23), Bill Melchioni (No. 25), Julius Erving (No. 32) and Charles “Buck” Williams (No. 52) in the stands at Barclays Center.
“We are excited to honor former Nets player Vince Carter for his tremendous contributions to this team on and off the court,” Nets Governor Joe Tsai said. “He was an important figure in Nets franchise history and we look forward to welcoming him to Barclays Center this season and celebrating his accomplishments.”
Carter’s five seasons in New Jersey (2004-09) were the most statistically successful period of his career, as he recorded the highest averages in points, rebounds, and assists in a Nets uniform. Playing in 374 games for the Nets, Carter averaged 23.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.2 steals in 37.9 minutes per game. He appeared in three consecutive All-Star Games (2005-07), starting two of them. This made him the only player in NBA All-Star Game history to represent the Nets three or more times, joining Kidd and Williams.
