The UK supermarket chain Morrisons has strengthened its senior leadership by appointing three industry veterans and formalizing key internal roles.
The company has appointed Matt Heslop as convenience and wholesale director.
Heslop is an executive with over 20 years of experience at Lidl, including stints as Chief Operating Officer.
Matt McClellan will assume the newly created role of Group Data and Media Director in mid-2025.
Prior to joining Morrisons, McLellan was Vice Chairman of ASDA’s Customer Planning and Proposals.
The company has also appointed Bruno Lebon as new group trading director NonFood.
Lebon’s expertise complements Andrew Staniland, who recently began his role as Morrisons Group Trading Director.
New recruits will report directly to CEO Rami Baitiéh.
Morrisons also served as interim director of retail operations since February 2024, and then named Martin Dawson Group Retail Director for a pivotal internal promotion.
Charlotte Exell assumes full responsibility for Morrisons’ online offerings and goes from Online Operations Director to Online Director.
Chief Customer and Marketing Officer Rachel Eyre returned from maternity leave on March 3, 2025.
The expansion of Morrisons’ leadership comes as a retailer Reported an increase of 4.9% It recorded eighth consecutive quarter of LFL sales, with a group-like (LFL) sales and an increase of 4.1% in fiscal year 2023/24.
The fourth quarter showed the most significant LFL sales improvement in almost four years, with card link sales increasing, which now accounts for 76%.
