actress Loretta Switt – Best known for playing the character Margaret “Hot Lips” Hoolihan on the long-running sitcom “M*a*s*h.”
Swit Public Relations Officer, Harlan Bolto TMZ…they talked last night and she looked fine. Bol said Swit died in an apartment in New York on Friday – she was found by a maid at 10am.
According to Boll, Swit was declared dead at noon. The cause of the death has not been confirmed, but Bol says she believes she died from a natural cause.
Swit was the 10-time Emmy candidate to win two times in her job on a show depicting the US Army medical units operating on the frontlines of the Korean War (the name represents “Mobile Army Surgery Hospital”). The comedy drama show took place between 1972 and 1983… The series finale attracted 106 million viewers, but it is the most viewed scripted television episode in history.
She has worked on television for decades, starring in “Hawaii 5-0” and “Murder,” and solidified her place in television history with her role as “Hot Lips” in many other shows and several films.
Loretta Switt was 87.
