Mexico City – Crushers GC captain Bryson Deccanbo is undoubtedly the biggest hitter in golf. Ripper GC captain Cameron Smith is undoubtedly the best putter in the sport. On Sunday at Liv Golf Mexico City, they will face off for the first time in the final group of the Liv Golf Final round.
Deccanbo grabbed Smith’s one-shot lead thanks to a par-3 Saturday par-birdie. Both shot 5-under 66 while playing together in the second round on Saturday. This is the forerunner of what promises to have a dramatic and entertaining finish at Club de Golf Chapultepec.
If that’s not enough, the third member of the final threesome is Torque GC Captain Joaquinnyman, the current point leader during the season. Neiman is three shots from the lead, tied with a 7-under 64 in Saturday’s low round.
“Hopefully Bryson, me and Joco can do a good show,” Smith said.

With 18 holes together on Saturday and 18 more set on Sunday, Deccanboe (13 under) and Smith (12 under) left how impressed they were with each other’s biggest strengths in the ropes.
“It’s scary to see him on the green,” Deccanbeau said. “Whenever he rides a green, I, it’s a one-putt. It’s so great to see him putt.”
“I wish I could drive the ball like him,” Smith said. “I often wonder how good a golfer I would be if I could drive the ball like him.”
Added DeChambeau: “It’ll be so much fun to play in the final group tomorrow. We’ll chase it.”
DeChambeau and Smith are looking for their first Liv Golf personal title since 2023, which won four consecutive events near the end of the season. Since then, DeChambeau has started the 19 Liv golf regular season without winning. Smith’s drought is 20 years old.

Luckily, they have been successful from a team standpoint, with Crusher winning the 2023 Team Championship last year, with Ripper winning, and both teams also garnering multiple regular season trophies. The Ripper is looking for a second consecutive win after last month’s victory in Miami, with Torque GC and Legion XIII tied up in third place, leading the Crusher two-shot.
Deccanbeau won the US Open last year in his second career major, but Smith has made 33 starts worldwide since his last victory. Both are very hungry for the individual Liv golf champagne celebrations on Sundays.

“I try to win every week,” Deccanbeau said. “Sometimes I don’t bring the best games, but I give them all and try my best every year whenever I show up and put the pegs on the ground. The same goes for tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow and today were so much fun. It’s been a while since I was on the top of the leaderboard,” said Smith, who will be playing in the final group for the first time since his victory at Bedminster in 2023.
