Getty Images (3)Big names in the music industry are joining forces for two FireAid benefit concerts to help those displaced by recent and ongoing wildfires.

Other included artists are: dave matthewsEarth, Wind & Fire, Gracie Abrams, Green Day, Jelly Roll, Joni Mitchell, Tate McRae, Rod Stewart, Sting And the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
This concert will be the first time Mayer, 47, and Matthews, 58, will perform together.
The benefit show will be held on Thursday, January 30th at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum venues in California. The show will be broadcast in select AMC theaters and online through streaming platforms including Apple Music, Max, Netflix and YouTube.
The one-night-only event raises funds to help rebuild communities destroyed by natural disasters and prevent similar incidents in the future.
“Donations to FireAid, with advice from the Annenberg Foundation, will be distributed for short-term relief efforts and long-term efforts to prevent future fires,” the press release said. “The Annenberg Foundation has decades of philanthropic leadership in our communities, including rapid response and coordinating teams to direct funds for maximum impact. All proceeds from the FireAid benefit concert held at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum will go to the event’s designated beneficiaries as the LA Clippers cover the millions of dollars in costs associated with the event. It will be donated directly.”
A series of wildfires broke out in Los Angeles earlier this month, rapidly destroying thousands of acres and killing more than 25 people. Additionally, thousands of celebrities have left city limits under forced or voluntary evacuation orders.
“This is the most precious thing I own. It’s a folder of photos of my father from his life as a baby, to an educator, to a husband, to a father. This is the only evidence of his life that will stand the test of time. ,” Mayer wrote on Instagram on January 9th. When you hear someone say they lost everything in a fire, this is most, if not all, of them. If you’re okay with it, you still have the folder and album. The inconsolable have lost it. Behind the immeasurable loss of life is the loss of proof of life. ”
He added, “I don’t practice prayer, but tonight I say a prayer for everyone who no longer has these items. It’s not about art or collectibles. It’s about photography, Letters, rings, glasses, and things that remind us that our loved ones were here. May those who have lost so much find the kind of hope and support from family and friends that can sometimes be hard to see. No, please believe that humanity and everything that comes with it is alive and well. This is truly devastating.”
Regarding the benefit concert, Mayer wrote in an Instagram note that she was “honored” to be included in the performance lineup.
“I’m honored to be in a position to support a cause as important as rebuilding lives and communities destroyed by wildfires,” he wrote Thursday.
The FireAid Benefit Concert begins Thursday, January 30th at 6pm PT and will be broadcast simultaneously on multiple streaming platforms. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, January 22nd at 12pm ET via Ticketmaster.
