Speaking at the long-running globe at the Israel Investment Conference Africa Israel Residence (TASE: AFRE), Ronit Eshed Levy spoke to “Globes” real estate editor Hilit Yanai-Levison about the growth trends in urban renewal.
Which municipalities are better at renewing cities?
“First and foremost, Jerusalem. It’s a city that has experienced an incredible transformation. Ten years ago, many companies weren’t operating there. Working in Jerusalem was extremely difficult. In 2006/7, when we started buying land in Jerusalem, we are now competing with us today, with first class construction companies competing with us. The city with the most inhabited people in Israel.

“People really want to live in Jerusalem, so we’re in good condition with sales sites there. There’s currently an entire overseas community that we want to migrate as a Jerusalem community and live with.
Is large companies advantageous for city renewal?
“In the last two years, there has been maturation of projects that took a long time to reach this stage. There are great places for city updates. The use is mixed together, these are places that people want to live in. Their locations are almost very interesting and very important. The project also has the maturity of the apartment owners themselves.

“My ambition is that my kids and their friends can buy apartments in Israel. I don’t want to gamble. I’m trying to maintain profitability and price levels that allow me to buy. Their portions that contribute to the cost of living and society.”
