It was a very solid game for the offensive line, except for some very big negative points.
Therefore, it makes sense to focus on the negative points first. The Giants failed to score on four plays from inside the 5-yard line and two plays from the 1-yard line. To make matters worse, Eric Gray fumbled on a fourth down attempt and the Seahawks returned it for a touchdown, resulting in a 14-point swing.
There were also some big drops that would have lengthened the drive and probably clinched the win sooner. In the end, the Giants went three-and-out, only wasting 20 seconds and two timeouts on their final drive before the two-minute warning. This gave the Seahawks a chance to win or tie.
Now for the positives. Daniel Jones played arguably his best game of the season, but this was a game Malik Nabors missed. He finished with 257 passing yards and two touchdowns, but the stats don’t tell the full story, as he made a lot of big plays, especially on third down.
Jones’ receiver also took to the plate. Darius Slayton, the longest-tenured member of the group, carried the biggest load in Nabers’ absence, catching eight of 11 targets for 122 yards and one touchdown.
The Giants also had success running the ball, gaining 175 total yards and averaging 5.1 yards per carry. Tyrone Tracy Jr. was responsible for most of the production, rushing for 129 yards and averaging 7.2 yards per tote.
