HFCL Limited has completed the deployment of the world’s largest Control Plane and User Plane Separation (CUPS) architecture based Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The project, worth approximately INR 3,900 crore, was commissioned in October 2022.
Shares of HFCL Limited were trading at Rs 146.59, up Rs 0.23 or 0.16 per cent, on the NSE as of 2:15 pm.
The new infrastructure will increase BSNL’s network efficiency and enable improved high-speed data services for Fiber To The Home (FTTH) and enterprise applications, the company said in a statement, adding that it will also significantly improve capacity and reliability while supporting the existing 150,000 gram panchayats under the BharatNet project.
HFCL’s end-to-end execution included design, supply, commissioning, testing and migration of its legacy network, the company said. The upgraded BNG will act as the internet gateway for all BSNL’s corporate and residential users as well as the current and expanded BharatNet network.
This nationwide expansion is expected to transform BSNL’s ability to support its high-end corporate customers and bridge the digital divide in rural and remote areas.
