In this age of mistrust, misinformation, and skepticism, you may be wondering how to prove your sources within Google Docs. Did you type it yourself, copy and paste from a browser-based source, copy and paste from an unknown source, or did it come from a generative AI?
You may not think this is an important explanation, but if writing is an important part of your livelihood or life, you’ll definitely want to certify your sources.

That’s where the new Grammarly feature comes in.
Authors actively track the writing process
This new feature is called Authorship, and according to Grammarly, “Grammarly Authorship is a set of features that help users demonstrate the source of text within Google Docs. When you enable Authorship within Google Docs, you can Proactively track your writing process. ”
I tested Grammarly Authorship and was impressed with its accuracy. For example, we used this in this document. This document contains text pasted directly from the Grammarly site. The author name found all the text originally entered, but the sentence copied from the Grammarly site PR release about Authorship from Grammarly. Needless to say, I was impressed. Even in beta, this feature was accurate.
This feature is currently in beta and works in Google Docs through Grammarly in Chrome or Microsoft Edge. This means you must use a Chromium-based browser for this to work. Grammarly Authorship is available on all plans (Free, Premium, Pro, and Education) and is very easy to enable.
How to enable and use author permissions in Grammarly
To enable this feature in Google Docs, click the little fingerprint icon in the bottom right corner of your new Google Doc (you’ll need to have the Grammarly plugin installed first), then click[執筆アクティビティを追跡する]Click. Next, you need to give Grammarly access to your clipboard so the add-on can record the sources used in your document.
After clicking the button, the author starts tracking the document. At any time, click the same fingerprint icon and[レポートを表示]You can view statistics for the current document by clicking .
The report tells you what percentage you typed, what was copied from known sources, and what percentage of content was copied from unknown sources. Pasting content from Opera’s Aria AI could result in an unknown source tag and lower authorship. But that’s not surprising considering this is still in beta.

Grammarly Authorship should be considered a must-have for anyone who wants to certify the sources used in Google Docs.
Other than installing the Grammarly browser extension, there’s nothing to install to start using Authorship with Google Docs.
