Anne Burrell turns out not to respond at her home after her death
The cause of Barrel’s death has not been revealed yet. However, the 911 caller claimed that the chef entered “cardiac arrest” and was the “door.” [dead on arrival]a New York City Fire Department official told several stores on June 18, 2025.
The New York City Police Department confirmed that Barrel was found to be unresponsive in his Brooklyn, New York home on June 17, 2025. She said she was pronounced dead “on the scene” after authorities answered a 911 call and discovered a 55-year-old woman “unconsciously unresponsive.”
Police in District 76 were warned at the scene “around 7:50am.” NYPD officials confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.

Burrell made his improvised comedy debut in No. 2 City NYC in Brooklyn, New York on June 16, 2025. One of my classmates on the TV host, Jane Margolisvia Instagram story, revealed that she was with Barrel the night before her death.
“Last night we were enjoying Anne’s cooking and we were doing an improvisation show together,” Margolis wrote along with a news post about Burrell’s death. “I’m still in shock, but I’m so happy you know me.”

Burrell revealed plans to make his improvisation comedy debut via an Instagram post on June 9th.
“Soooooo…as I mentioned, I’m @thesecondcitytc improvisation classes and have an absolute explosion!!! My class and I can come at the end of this semester and do a real show!!!” she wrote. “If you’re interested in stopping by on Monday, June 16th in Brooklyn at 9pm, feel free to contact us!! We’re a small but very fun bunch!!!”
The source said people Burrell was reportedly “the Great Spirit” and “very happy” during the comedy performance, but the second source added that everyone was “shocked and confused” about the details surrounding her death.
The NYC branch of Second City paid tribute to Burrell via Instagram after her death.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and student Anne Burrell,” the post read. “She is overlooked and remembered as a vibrant part of our Second City New York Training Center community. Anne brought joy, boldness and unwavering “yes, and ‘spirits.” Her enthusiasm was contagious. I will never forget her existence.
