Netflix has another hit with “The Night Agent,” developed by Shawn Ryan, the creator of “The Shield,” and based on Matthew Quirk’s novel of the same name. The series attracted attention as a political action thriller following Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), a low-level FBI agent whose father was accused of treason, and poor agent Sutherland was also treated as suspicious. Despite saving many people during the terrorist attacks on the Metro, he is assigned to the frustrating role of “Night Agent” and watches the phone underground in the White House that appears to never ring…until one day it happens.

The first two seasons followed Sutherland, and attempted to discover the identity of Moll somewhere in the US government. Season 3 begins with Peter as a dishonorable agent trying to save the government from itself. So let’s take a look at what we know about Season 3 of “Agent of the Night.”
Night Agent Season 3 has begun production
Season 3 of “The Night Agent” was planned before the second season debuted. That means they jumped to filming the third season. Filming began in Istanbul at the end of 2024, then moved to New York in February 2025, where series creator and showrunner Shaun Ryan spoke to Netflix Tudum All about it:

“We are excited to bring new thrills, new worlds, new stunts, new stunts, new characters and new adventures to our fans. We’re spanning the globe from Istanbul to New York, Washington, DC and Mexico City.
We’ve been waiting a little while between the first two seasons of “The Night Agent,” so it’s great to see Netflix stay at the top of the series and offer more to its fans as soon as possible. It’s pretty amazing for the series that Netflix was mostly handed over to begin with!
How Night Agent Season 2 Finale Sets Up Season 3
In the first two seasons, we saw Peter learn how to become a night agent and then try to learn more about Project Fox Glove, a closed CIA project to develop chemical weapons, but Season 3 is still working on his biggest plot. He also took several UN documents illegally, and is a bit dirty, and now he works as a mole for Catherine (Amanda Warren). (Thankfully, at least for now, Katherine appears to be trusted.)

Despite together blocking the bioterrorist attacks, the romantic relationship between Peter and cybersecurity expert Rose Larkin (Lucian Buchanan) had to end, as he knew his enemies could always use her to reach her. “That would be something that’s not selfish who really cares about Rose,” Ryan said. Tudum. “It gets tragic in almost ‘Romeo and Juliet’ ways.
Rose will not return to Season 3, and it appears that he is not working as an ambassador for the United Nations, and will not be working in the library instead. Hopefully, Rose and Noor can take care of each other, but which characters will return to Season 3?

Which characters will return to Night Agent Season 3?
Gabriel Basso will definitely return as Peter Sutherland and with Amanda Warren as Katherine Weaver. Ward Horton, who plays corrupt presidential candidate Governor Hagan, has been promoted to a regular in the series along with Albert Jones, who plays Associate Director Iden Mosley.

This season, David Lions, Jennifer Morrison and Stephen Moyer will all be playing roles in the series, adding even more of the biggest stars to the cast. The Lions, best known for playing Dr. Simon Brenner in NBC’s medical drama “ER,” will play the former spy seduced from retirement, deadline. They also report that Morrison (“House”, “Once Upon a Time”) plays the First Lady and Moyer (“True Blood”) plays the highly respected hitman. (Vampire bill as a hitman? Sign me to me!) Genesis Rodriguez (“Liones”) is tentative for each Deadline article, but could also be potentially on board to play a reporter.
Additionally, children’s actors Callum Vinson (“Chucky”) and Suraj Sharma (“How I Meet Your Farse”) will join the cast as regulars.

When will Night Agent Season 3 premiere on Netflix?
The actor in “The Night Agent” felt compelled to step up that up due to the chaos of season 2, so it would be interesting to see how intense something even more intense gets before season 3. Hold the fans until they can get a spy and Gabriel Basso fix.
